In the midst of refugee’s crisis, some Western and European countries such as America and Germany have apparently adopted a lenient policy toward asylum seekers and have reported the widespread acceptance of them. Although most of their officials claim taking such a position due to humanitarian causes, examining their economic facts of these countries reveals other realities to the analysts. Noting this analysis, we are after reasons for adopting open-door policy by countries such as Germany and US as well as strict measures taken by other countries of East Europe prohibiting the entry of asylum seekers.

Germany: to solve the labor force’s problem with refugees

Er Gabriel, the German economy minister, said his country could attract 800 thousand refugees in the labor market, to solve the problem of skilled labor. "If we can quickly teach those who come and use them to work, we can eliminate one of the biggest problems in our economic future: the lack of skilled labor."

According to estimates of the Institute of Business Research, 77 percent of refugees and refugee claimants are in working age. A Uni-Credit Bank economist said in an interview with Reuters estimates that the increase in the working population of Germany by accepting refugees can be up to 1.7% by 2020 and help to develop the economy of Germany. He said the potential growth is equivalent to 50 billion euros.

In addition to the of asylum seekers’ issue in Europe, the Arab states of the Persian Gulf have been criticized in recent days because they didn’t accept Syrian refugees who are in war. Arab countries’ presumption is that they have a major role in providing humanitarian aid to refugees in Turkey and Lebanon, but "Peter Sutherland”, the UN Special Representative for Migration, said last week: "in my opinion it’s not appropriate that flinch from our real role by sending money. And I have to say that refugee’s acceptation is different from sending money

In spite of this, Eastern EU countries like Britain, Ireland and Denmark refuse to take part in refugee’s crisis. This countries have limited labor market and no need hiring foreign workers. Hungary intensifies security measures in Serbian border ahead of tougher immigration laws to stem a flow of migrants. But experts believe that building fence can’t prevent the refugees that escape from war zone like Syria. Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia have rejected any quota system for accepting migrants. In 2015 more than 2000 die during a trip to reach Europe in the Mediterranean.

Why some of EU countries welcome to Syrian migrants?

About 20% of the German populations are over 65 years old now and if the current trend continues, in 2040 about 30% of the population or nearly one-third is over 65 years old according to studies. The aging population is not productive because of retirement and their wage should be providing by generative population. And this will be a big problem for Germany.

Negative rate of population growth in Germany

The population growth rate in Germany is either very low or negative. In addition, the life expectancy average is high. If this trend goes on, the German population will get older. According to figures, each woman gives birth to only one child. Nowadays job and progress are so critical for German women that they are extremely worried if starting a family and giving birth to a child are obstacles in the way of their occupational advancement.

According to statistics in 1970, a German woman gave birth to 3.2 child on average. This figure reached to 1.56 and 1.25 in 1980 and 1995 respectively. According to the professor of the University of Bielefeld Herwig Birg, if the downward trend continues, Germany's current population of 82 million decreases to 77 million in 2030 and 68 million in 2050 respectively. According to federal institute for population research in Germany,40 percent of families unwilling to have a child justify their act for occupational causes. At the same time some experts believe that the reasons for the negative growth rate of the German population can be traced back to the past. After WWII, any policy to up birth rate was subjected to defeat due to labeling it as indecent since it reminded the memory of Nazi era in which the most fertile German women were granted merit badges.

Now Germany even tries to reduce the expenses (more than €1000) of annual child care from the families taxes! We should say the cost of child care in German elementary schools is on function of their parents’ salary.

This sum in Nordrhein-Westfalen state varies between 0 (for the families with a low income) until €312 ‎‎(for the families with a high income).

Germany economic centers try to prepare the conditions for these refugees to enter in job market the as soon as possible. Since union‏ ‏of GDR and FRG, Germany has now the lowest rate of jobless, therefore it needs more than 140.000 engineers, planners and technical workers. Crafts and Hospitality industry are now hardly trying to recruit people. If the current situation continues, Germany will miss 1.8 million workers until 2020 and 4 million until 2040.
